Project Description

CJCT were appointed to undertake a Stage 1 feasibility study of the Osney Mead Graduate Accommodation Project in Oxford on behalf of Oxford University.

The site is located to the southwest of Oxford City Centre and forms part of a wider masterplan to redevelop Osney Mead Industrial Estate in to an innovation quarter.

The universities aspirations for the Innovation quarter were to extrapolate the unique and distinctive character specific to the site, maximise and exploit the riverside setting to create and define a sense of place, create a new community with high quality university accommodation at its heart, integrate and enhance the public realm, to create legibility for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, sensitivity to adjacent rural and historic settings, sustainable design and Passivhaus criteria and mitigate flood risk.

The brief was to deliver 600 residential units on the site for graduate and post-doctoral accommodation.
