Apartments, Student Accommodation, Hotel, Office and Retail, along with shared amenity

Project Description

CJCT were asked to develop proposals for a tall building at a key entry point into Leeds city centre, based around a unique concept that offered places to live for a wide demographic, including student accommodation, private sale apartments and the Build to Rent market, as well as flexible office space, retail units and an aparthotel. All accommodation is supported by a ‘hub’ containing common amenity spaces in order to encourage social interaction and a sense of community.

The design team established a fresh approach to the idea of a tall building in Leeds, utilising a predominantly glazed façade to create an elegant and lightweight architectural statement with a changing character through the day and the year. The form is strategically sharpened and rounded to suit the lines of movement around it, tapering as the building rises into a ‘lantern’ feature which steps to give the building a distinctive silhouette.
