Hackney Wick Fish Island – 2019 Planning Awards Winner

CJCT were successful at the recent 2019 Planning Awards for their collaborative retrospective masterplan for Hackney Wick and Fish Island, winning the ‘Award For Excellence in Placemaking at High Densities.’

Fish Island lies to the west of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is a focus for urban renewal and regeneration. CJCT’s component of the masterplan sought to repair the urban fabric of Hackney Wick, by defining strong active street edges and reinstating a lost historic street. The re-established route will improve and enhance the public realm, wayfinding, legibility and connectivity of the wider Hackney Wick area.

The mixed-use scheme comprises 145 residential units and 20,000 sqft of ground floor commercial active frontage. The robust design draws on the industrial heritage of the site, the nearby buildings of townscape merit and the adjacent conservation area.
