Albion Way Planning Approval

Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher are pleased to announce that the Albion Way student housing project has received Planning Approval from London Borough of Brent (LBB) with a unanimous committee decision. The project sits at the edge of the Wembley Masterplan and comprises 283 student bedrooms, in a single seventeen storey building, for the Watkin Jones Group.

CJCT undertook a thorough and collaborative consultation process with LBB to overcome policy designations on the site to deliver a scheme that creates value for the scheme and the local community. The accommodation comprises a mix of cluster rooms and self-contained studio apartments with shared social and study spaces at first floor and a rooftop amenity terrace. There is also a commercial unit at ground floor to activate the street frontage.

The elevational treatment is calm and ordered in response to the variety of styles coming forward in the wider area. High quality brickwork facades were selected for their robustness and longevity, whilst recessed corbelling subtly creates panels within the brickwork between the fenestration. Deeper recessed panels in the brickwork balance the façades and the crisp brickwork will be enlivened by the shadows created by deep window reveals. The result is a well-mannered building that will sit comfortably in its context.
